9 Ways to Help Stop Babies Sniffles
With babies and children heading back to day care and kindergarten after the holiday period, help stay on top of germs and viruses as they come in close contact with more children.
Here are 8 ways to help keep on top of your child's health, breathing and sniffles.
It goes with out saying that kids need their sleep. Sleep is where the body heals and rejuvenates itself. If a child is not getting the sleep they need, their systems are compromised and are more likely to pick up germs and increase risk of sickness.
Having lots of fluids is important to your childs health. it cleanses and flushes the system. Make sure they are kept well hydrated with fresh water and / or milk all day.
Using a cool mist vaporiser is a great solution to help improve the air quality and assist breathing. We do not recommend heated vaporisers as they create excess condensation and mould, but instead our cool mist vaporisers like the long running Aroma-Snooze or Aroma-Cloud.
4. ESSENTIAL OILS:
Provided the child is over 3 months, add 2-3 drops of organic essential oils to the humidifier. The micro particles of essential oils will be carried with the mist and the anti-bacterial properties of the essential oils will assist in improving the air. Our Organic Sniffles and Chest Essential Oils is a popular favourite, or see our full range of baby and childs oils here.
An organic topical balm containing Euclyptus, Lavender, Lemon, when applied to the skin will naturally support breathing and congestion. Apply to their neck, chest and soles of feet at night.
6. ROLL ON OILS:
Having a pre made Roll on oil to conveniently and easily apply the healing power of essential oils to their neck and chest at any time of the day or night, will help assist breathing and open the airways.
7. TREAT A BLOCKED RUNNY NOSE:
Babies and very young children can't blow their own nose. So having a small manual nasal aspirator suction bulb bought from the local pharmacy (for literally only a few dollars) is always handy to have close by. You can help suction their runny nose in literally a few short squeezes to help them breathe, eat and sleep better.
8. WARM BATH:
Having a warm bath or shower in the morning or night can help relieve and clear the nasal pasaages to support breathing and will be relaxing for the body too.
9. BABY TUMMY OIL:
A sore tummy can be very distressing to a young child. After a relaxing bath, massage a Tummy Oil into the tummy area to improve circulation, relieve tummy upsets and gas.
CONTACTING A DOCTOR:
Most sniffles can be managed at home. if you are unsure or are concerned of your childs well being, always contact a doctor, local hospital for support.
